In a bid towards fighting air pollution, the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change recently informed that PNG, a cleaner fuel will be made available to all the identified industrial unit in Delhi. This information was shared in a press release by the ministry stating that the newly formed commission for air quality management in the national capital region and its adjoining areas took upon the switching over the industrial units in Delhi to cleaner fuels as one of the priority action items.
To address the same, 1627 industrial units in 50 industrial areas in Delhi were identified to switch to Piped Natural Gas (PNG). To achieve this, M/s Gail, IGL and the Government of NCT of Delhi conducted regular follow up. It is also mentioned in the release that the PNG is made available to all 1627 identified industrial units and out of them, 1607 already started using PNG instead of conventional fuels. However, the remaining 20 industrial units that are at present using LPG will soon switch to PNG by the end of February. This step of the government will ensure cleaner air as all the industrial units of Delhi will be operating on cleaner fuels like PNG.
