World Environment Day - Online Webinar - WED 2025 - 3

On World Environment Day, June 5, 2025, the Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme (EIACP) Centre, in collaboration with the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS EIACP) as a Resource Partner, launched the Birdle-India application. This initiative was supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of the Government of India and Raining Rock Studio from Switzerland. This innovative platform is dedicated to raising awareness and providing education about birds.
It enables citizens, researchers, and conservationists to identify, track, and learn about various bird species. An online webinar was held on June 5, 2025, where Dr. Sujit Narwade, Deputy Director and EIACP Coordinator, shared valuable insights about the Birdle application. The developers, Mr Alberto Vaccari and Ms Lily Bickerstaffe provided a detailed explanation of how to play the game.

What is Birdle-India?
Birdle is a daily challenge designed for bird enthusiasts, where players attempt to identify a bird based on its call, characteristics, and gradually revealed images—all within five guesses. This engaging game is suitable for both beginners and seasoned birders, promoting learning and exploration of bird diversity.

About the Developers
Raining Rock Studio, formed by Alberto Vaccari and Lily Bickerstaffe, created Birdle to raise awareness about birds, the threats they face, and conservation efforts. The EIACP department of BNHS partnered to develop an Indian version of the app.

Webinar Highlights
The webinar included a question-and-answer session hosted by Programme Officer Mr. Nandkishor Dudhe. Special appreciation is due to the BNHS-EIACP staff and volunteers—including Ms Natasha Girkar, Mr Niraj Patel, Mr Yogesh Dhamnaskar, and Mr Ishaan Venkatraman—whose significant contributions made the webinar a success.

Acknowledgements
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Director Mr Kishor Rithe and Deputy Director Dr Sujit Narwade for their
